Bakes on Emmett:
The first thing that comes to mind when Emmett Bronca’s name is mentioned is ‘great friend and bloke’.
The words and thoughts that follow are of mental and physical toughness. Loyalty. A team player. And great club person.
For as long as Emmett has played with Yarraville Club, he’s demanded the best out of himself both on and off the field. He has always been the person to put his hand up to solve a problem or to make sure the job gets done. Now that could be taking on the coaching / captaincy role. bowling 24 overs on the trot in a grand final, to ensure we get across the line . Stepping up to be in charge of the clubs social events, organising some of the largest functions that the club has seen. Or even putting his hand up to make a speech at a special event and cook a bbq dinner for the members.

And this is why Emmett has been in integral part and one of the main drivers in the clubs success over the last 15 years. His stats really just speak for themselves, but I think where he was the most impressive, was in any situation that required someone to do something special. Something that required a person to find that little bit extra than any other person on the ground.
I’ve been lucky enough to see this first hand in home and away matches and I’ve seen it in nearly every final we were lucky to play in. I’ve seen him play in pain and get the job done with the ball, even though we both knew it probably needed surgery or at the least, a good few months rest. But he never let you down. One of the biggest tickers I’ve seen.

Emmett’s ability to lead was a great strength. He has a personality that makes people want to follow him and do what was asked. This is why he has gained many great friendships and relationships with so many people over the last 15 years and I’m sure those friendships will continue for many years to come.
I could continue to write and talk about many stories and times from the last 15 years. But let’s be honest. No words will ever even come close to what this great man has done for the Yarraville Club and it’s a sad day to see him leave the field where he’d made so many batsman look silly.
No words would even come close to describing how lucky myself and many others were to stand side by side with you over the years and what memories you’ve helped us make and keep for many many a year.
Congrats Broncs. On not only a fantastic career in cricket. But congrats on being the one in a million to walk through a club door and have such an impact on not only the club but the competition. Not only the people you played with, but the club mates in other grades that you loved having a beer with and listening to what happened in their game. And congrats on so far, achieving all you’ve set out for in your career and your beautiful family. It’s been a pleasure to be apart of and also watch along the way.
